TVP to carry out 'real-time' activity costings
Thames Valley Police are to trial a method to provide 'real-time' activity and costing information to operational commanders.
Activity data will be collected electronically using eForms. This will be downloaded into Aprais at the end of each shift to provide up-to-the-minute activity analysis data to operational commanders on how resources are being deployed. This accurate (and timely) information can be used to optimise the tasks undertaken by front line officers to ensure they focus on their primary objectives.
This data is then shared automatically with Perspective to derive the costs of the various activites. Perspective is used in its 'top-down' mode to derive unit costs. These can then be applied in a 'bottom-up' calculation to cost activites and incidents.
Using the above method in combination with 'on-demand' eForm data collection it will be possible to view the on-going costs of major incidents. It will also enable TVP to predict the costs of staging major events.
